The construction of the first bridge over the Madeira River near Porto Velho (capital of the state of Rondônia), has been completed. The work, which began in May 2010, was interrupted several times, notably because of the speed and velocity of the river water (about 4 m / s).
For this project, Terra Armada (Reinforced Earth in Brazil) was selected by Aterpa-Emsa for the construction of 1800 m² TerraClass® walls with steel strips HA50x4 for the bridge’s access ramps. This bridge will contribute to the economic development of the region and also improve the quality of life of rural residents by facilitating their access to Porto Velho.
